Deposits are strictly non-refundable. In the event the Buyer withdraws from the purchase for any reason, the deposit is forfeited in its entirety. If HausRuma is unable to fulfil the agreement for reasons solely and exclusively within HausRuma's control, the deposit will be refunded or transferred to a future litter at HausRuma's discretion.
HausRuma reserves the right to reallocate a reserved puppy if the balance is not paid within 48 hours of the agreed collection date, without refund of deposit.
3. Transfer of Ownership
Legal ownership of the puppy transfers to the Buyer at the point of collection, upon full payment of the agreed purchase price and signing of this Contract. Until that point, the puppy remains the sole property of HausRuma.
The Buyer accepts full responsibility for the puppy's welfare, care, and any costs associated with ownership from the moment of collection.
4. Buyer's Obligations
By entering into this Contract, the Buyer unconditionally agrees to:
- Provide the puppy with appropriate shelter, nutrition, veterinary care, socialisation, and exercise
- Register the puppy with a UK veterinary practice and attend a post-purchase health check within 72 hours of collection
- Maintain all vaccinations, worming, and routine health care throughout the dog's life
- Feed an appropriate, high-quality diet suitable for a working-line German Shepherd throughout its development
- Limit exercise to age-appropriate levels (no more than 5 minutes per month of age, twice daily, until 12 months)
- Keep the puppy in a safe, clean domestic environment as a companion animal
- Notify HausRuma of any significant hereditary health issues diagnosed within 24 months of purchase
- Not subject the puppy to any form of abuse, neglect, or inhumane treatment
5. Breeding Rights & Restrictions
Unless a puppy is sold with explicit "breeding rights" confirmed in writing by HausRuma, the puppy is sold as a pet/companion only.
5a. Pet Sale (No Breeding Rights)
Where a puppy is sold without breeding rights:
- The Buyer agrees not to breed from the dog without HausRuma's prior written consent
- The Buyer agrees to have the dog spayed or neutered at a veterinarily appropriate age, unless medical contraindication exists
- Any unauthorised breeding by the Buyer constitutes a material breach of this Contract
5b. Breeding Rights Sale
Where breeding rights are explicitly granted in writing:
- The Buyer agrees to health test the dog in accordance with HausRuma's recommendations before breeding (minimum: hip score, elbow score, eye test, and DNA panel)
- The Buyer agrees to breed responsibly, selecting only suitable, health-tested mates
- HausRuma retains the right to first-right-of-refusal on any puppy from a litter produced by this dog at the pet-sale price
- HausRuma's kennel name and prefix may not be used in any registered name without HausRuma's prior written consent
6. Transfer, Rehoming & Surrender
Should the Buyer be unable or unwilling to keep the puppy at any point in the dog's life, the Buyer must:
- Contact HausRuma first, giving us the right of first refusal to take the dog back
- Not surrender the dog to a rescue organisation, shelter, pound, or local authority without first offering it back to HausRuma
- Never sell or rehome the dog to any person without informing HausRuma and providing the new owner's details
HausRuma will take back any HausRuma-bred dog at any age, at no cost to the Buyer, provided the dog is returned in good health and condition. No refund of purchase price will be made for returned dogs.
Failure to comply with these rehoming obligations constitutes a material breach of this Contract and may result in legal action by HausRuma.
7. Health Guarantee
This Contract incorporates by reference HausRuma's Health Guarantee (available at www.hausruma.com/health-guarantee.html). The terms, conditions, exclusions, and remedies set out in the Health Guarantee form part of this Contract. In the event of any conflict between this Contract and the Health Guarantee, the Health Guarantee shall prevail with respect to health-related matters.
8. Representations & Warranties of the Seller
HausRuma warrants that at the time of sale:
- The puppy is in good general health to the best of our knowledge
- The puppy has received all vaccinations and treatments as described in the accompanying documentation
- The puppy's pedigree and registration papers are genuine and accurate to the best of our knowledge
HausRuma makes no warranty, express or implied, regarding the puppy's future health, show quality, working ability, temperament, size, coat, or any other characteristic beyond those explicitly stated herein or in the Health Guarantee.
9. Limitation of Seller's Liability
HausRuma's total liability to the Buyer under or in connection with this Contract shall not in any circumstance exceed the original purchase price paid. HausRuma shall have no liability for indirect, consequential, special, or punitive damages of any kind, including but not limited to veterinary costs, boarding fees, training costs, emotional distress, or loss of enjoyment.
Nothing in this Contract excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under English law.
